It is illegal for state and local governmental entities to terminate your employment in retaliation for reporting illegal conduct.
Certain private employers are also subject to laws which prohibit them from terminating or retaliating against employees who report certain violations of the law.
For example, nursing home employees who report fraud and/or mistreatment of patients, cannot be terminated from employment for making such reports.
